Oreo Spooky

I was approached by Otherly to help them in creating animated social assets for Oreo’s Halloween campaign this year - ‘Oreo Spooky.’

The Challenge: Bring to life The Otherly’s beautiful assets and storyboards and enhance them with compositing / effects. The big challenge with these animations is always in getting everything to work within the time constraints and still be able to hero the product. 6 seconds is a very short time!

The Solution: First I rigged and set up all of the artwork provided by the Otherly so that I’d be able to animate it. There were lots of grainy highlights, glows and shadows that needed to be converted so they’d work in animation, and still look true to the original key visual. I then focused on getting the timing right to make sure all the messaging was able to be read, and with the camera being able to move nicely between each position. Next I worked on each of the individual elements - bats / zombie hands / witches and built up all the clouds and lighting effects.

The Result: The Otherly were very happy with these animations, and they have been translated by the Oreo team for use in several different markets around the world.

Here are the animated Youtube bumper and two organic social assets:

Here’s some nice words The Otherly had to say about working with me:

“Andrew has a real talent at bringing to life complex ideas, scenes and effects in a beautifully crafted way - and his proactive suggestions for new ideas and ways of doing things are always appreciated. He approaches each project with enthusiasm, rigour and flexibility - asking questions, addressing feedback, and suggesting solutions to ensure every stage of the project runs smoothly. He has a fantastic attitude, talent and work ethic - which really shows in the work he has created for us at The Otherly! I would recommend Andrew every time.”
